Dragonflies are a predatory insect subject to predation by other animals. They are found throughout the world and can fly in all directions. Dragonflies themselves have been around for about 300 million years.
In the adult form, dragonflies do not live a long life. Due to this, the dragonfly in response teaches to try to live life to its fullest. Life can only be certain to happen once for each person and so it is the same for other species and the dragonfly knows.
It is taught by this totem that it is not good to hold a belief that what is wished to be done cannot be done. It is a matter of trying, often times trying hard to bring success. Life is difficult and success can be a long and difficult journey.
Illusions fill the world. A person who appears to be weak and harmless could be the most dangerous, a delicious treat can contain a disgusting yet necessary ingredient. The dragonfly teaches to do what is within power to strip these illusions away, to rid of whatever power an illusion may hold.
