Dogs are known for their various breeds and even high amount of loyalty to their owners. Throughout the various breeds of this animal, lessons of this totem are highly similar although breeds may teach lessons specific to its breed.
Being an animal of loyalty, the dog teaches loyalty to those trusted and to do what possible for those loyal towards. Loyalty often comes hand-in-hand with companionship and being a needed companion to those one is loyal to is also taught.
The dog totem asks to look at the qualities of the self. What qualities are needed to be worked on? Is one judgmental or forgiving? What of being faithful and loving? Do such qualities need to be worked upon themselves?
To show kindness and love even in the likes of mistreatment may be difficult, but it is often the best way to respond as the dog tells. Being weary of others taking advantage of one’s kindness and love should still exist, for there is always that one person willing to abuse the kindness and love of others.

Cat Grass
Cat Grass is a plant that gives cats essential vitamins and minerals, which can easily be missing from their diets if spent indoors. For cats, it is eaten for its nutritional value and is known to be suitable to be fed to dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits.
The botanical name of cat grass is Dactylis glomerata and is an annual which fruits in late summer. It is also a frost tender plant which can be grown within small containers. At 7-10cm, cat grass is ready to be consumed and be used as a distraction from nibbling on houseplants.
If grown indoors, the seeds can be sown all year round and do not have to worry about frost. However, as a plant growing indoors it needs to be placed by a well lit window and turned daily. Grown outdoors, sowing is to occur within spring, summer or autumn. Cat grass grown outdoors should be kept out of both full sun and shade, where it is best grown in semi-shade.

Chinese Zodiac: Dog
The 11th animal of the Chinese zodiac is the Dog whose hours are 7PM to 9PM and direction is West-northwest. The Dog says “I worry” with their month October and gemstone being the diamond plus having the colours of yellow and turquoise. The latest born Dog’s are the Fire Dog’s from 29th January 2006 to 17th February 2007 and the next to be born Dog’s are the Earth Dog’s from 16th February 2019 to the 4th of February 2019.
Dog’s are known to be loyal, honest, faithful and sincere. It is this person who you can most count upon and who won’t let you down, you can even tell the Dog secrets without worry of having these secrets being told to others.
However, while these people will be a good companion when in a good mood, but in a bad mood the Dog is best described as nasty. Judgmental, defensive, temperamental, narrow-minded, stubborn and picky as it is what the Dog will be, yet will be the greatest companion you’ll find if you treat the Dog respectfully and with kindness.
Love wise, Dog’s will be very honest and straightforward but will have romantic problems probably their whole lives likely due to his own faults due to being anxious and doubting their own feelings. Dog’s tend to not care for money, power or success, which would motivate others, unless there’s a loving partner with a stable family and home life.
Dog’s themselves will value their friends highly, listening always to those friends in need of help and are amazingly attentive. Dog’s should sometimes pay more attention to their needs and are people who are known to worry a lot.

Totems: Dog
Wondering when I would be doing the dog, but here it is! Seeing as I touched on the black dog earlier on I thought, “Why not?” There is one thing I find highly interesting, that on the second day of the Chinese New Year is considered to be the birthday of all dogs. Not only that, but the feast day of Saint Roch on August 16th is actually celebrated as the birthday of all dogs in Bolivia.
Dogs are the animals thought to be greatly loyal and there has been many real life dogs with a huge loyalty to their owners such as Hachiko and Greyfriars Bobby. Another lesson one can learn from the dog totem is companionship. Dogs can be great companions to some people, which may stem from the dogs loyalty to the person.
Many people, at least from my experience, seem to forget that dogs are pack animals. Dogs themselves can use teamwork and this is a lesson the dog totem can teach as in a dog show it does take both the owner and the dog to win.
The dog can be seen as the protector, or a guardian This may be due to how dogs can be brought up as, as guard dogs and some dogs can be fiercely protective of what they believe are theirs or of their owners. A lesson that could be learnt is show unconditional love, seeing as dogs do show plenty of it through a loving kindness.
It really depends on the breed of dog your totem is as different breeds of dogs have been bred for different reasons. What is above are likely lessons to be taught by the dog totem. Offerings to your dog totem may include bones and meat, though a certain kind of bone or meat may be preferred. Dog treats may be even a preferred offering to your dog totem which can include many kinds of treats such as pigs snouts, kangaroo tails, and dog biscuits.
